"What I like most in Maier's giant work is the spine of this saga, the all-important record of influence the great soldier-statesman-historian's life exerted on the future American president." -- Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's Hardball, review in Chartwell Bulletin, The Churchill Centre

"Masters of Sex" Honored by TV Critics As One of the "Most Exciting New Programs" for 2013. The show's stars and producers celebrate on the red carpet and by showing a clip at the ceremony

In Showtime's "Masters of Sex', actors Caitlin Fitzgerald, Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan (l to r), play Mrs. and Mrs William Masters and Virginia Johnson. Here they are the 2013 Critics Choice Awards

Most Exciting New Television Series! It certainly has a nice ring to it. And at last night's Critics Choice Awards ceremony, "Masters of Sex" was indeed honored as one of America's top new shows. This is the esteemed (and quite correct) judgment of the TV critics who watched the new season's pilots and early episodes. (Hey, readers of this website came to the same conclusion a long time ago!)
Anyway, from this New York outpost, where we watched the Beverly-Hills-based show on UStream, hoping the Internet connection wouldn't go kaput, we were delighted see to the "Masters of Sex" ensemble on fabulous display. Michael Sheen (Dr. William Masters) was dapper in his tuxedo, while Lizzy Caplan (Virginia Johnson) and Caitlin Fitzgerald (Libby Masters) looked spectacular in their evening gowns. (The Red Carpet judges gave them a big thumbs up too!)
When it came time to speak up for "Masters of Sex" during the show, executive producer and head writer Michelle Ashford did the honors, with executive producer Sarah Timberman by her side, before a clip from the program was shown. It was a great night for all!
